Mamuka Gvilava – Independent Expert

Mamuka Gvilava is an expert specializing in a wide range of environmental issues, with 25 years of experience working in Georgia, the Caucasus, the Black Sea region, and Europe. His expertise covers Earth observations, climate change assessments, green design and construction, nature-based methods, and strategic (SEA) and environmental impact assessments (EIA). He has performed and reviewed SEA/EIA for numerous plans and projects, particularly in the spatial planning and energy sectors.
Mamuka led the World Bank and Global Environment Facility-supported project to establish the Kolkheti Wetland and Marine Protected Areas on the Black Sea coast of Georgia. He currently coordinates the involvement of multiple partners from Georgia in European research and innovation projects focused on the blue economy.
